According to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), innovation is the action of innovating. It is the creation or modification of a product or service, and its introduction into a market.
And due to its importance in the development of society, it is one of our pillars, which we promote through university projects on sustainable innovation with the support of the University-Business Alliance.
An innovation ecosystem of Enel Colombia Group (Codensa and Emgesa) that integrates solutions to different business challenges with the support of Universities and seeks to generate value for our clients and the organization, as well as contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals set by the company.
What are the partner universities and what projects are being developed with them?
Working under the sustainable innovation scheme has led us to develop these innovation projects with different universities:
- Los Andes University: development of projects oriented to simulation models for business decision-making, and electronic prototypes such as the Security Seal to prevent energy theft.
- National University: projects related to the control and automation of substations, and battery-based storage solutions.
- La Salle University: energy quality and environmental research.
- Colombian School of Engineering (ECI): project management models.
- Javeriana University: projects related to 3D printing and immersive virtual reality.
- Jorge Tadeo Lozano University: prototyping of solutions for optimizing reading-taking.
- El Bosque University: development of a sensor-based brain connection device to improve attention.
- Del Valle University: detection of spurious SF6 emissions in substations.
In the continuous search to strengthen these alliances, we have obtained patents resulting from projects such as:
- Aye Aye, Load Buster Adapter to Disconnect Circuit Breakers without Opening Support: developed together with the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, this project obtained a utility model patent, with the industrial prototype that facilitates the interruption of electrical power in case of exceeding a preset value or generating a circuit overload, to protect the integrity of the distribution transformers, and devices connected to the circuit and people.
- RFID-SAW security system: with the support of Los Andes University and co-financed by Colciencias, a patent for the invention of the security system was obtained, which features a method of assembly and installation of the security seals in the energy meters, to avoid fraudulent energy manipulation.
