For the last 20 years, we have been working towards sustainable mobility through the implementation of projects and agreements that have allowed us to bring and introduce this technology to our environment, turning it a reality and a key factor for the development of our country.
AMBASSADORS OF ELECTRICAL MOBILITY
Determined to transform the way we mobilize, in 2011 we implemented the E-bike to Work program. An initiative aimed at our employees, in which we make available a fleet of electric bicycles so that they can move from home to the office and vice versa, in order to avoid the use of private cars and to present a mobility alternative to improve their quality of life.
To date, the program has 48 electric bicycles, which have benefited more than 300 employees, and have added approximately 11,600 trips in which not only the environmental benefit is reflected in the non-production of CO2, but also the personal benefit of our employees in terms of savings in travel times, and no investment in public transport.
Years later, the Enel Group Colombia companies launched a program that allowed 18 of our employees to acquire a Renault Twizzy electric vehicle. Today they mobilize themselves sustainably, with the benefits that electric mobility offers: greater comfort, without noise pollution, without traffic restriction (pico y placa) and contributing to the care of the environment.
Currently, we have 48 charging points for bicycles and 15 stations for vehicles, located in the different company branches in Bogota with the aim of facilitating the use of this technology for our employees, turning them into ambassadors of electric mobility in the country.
MASIFICATING ELECTRIC MOBILITY IN THE CITY
Since 2013, Bogotá has the largest electric taxi pilot plan in Latin America, consisting of a fleet of 40 vehicles, 4 charging stations with 34 charging points and an installed capacity to serve 308 vehicles a day. Additionally, and in order to streamline and improve the recharging process, during this same year Enel - Codensa and Enel - Emgesa made available to all drivers of electric vehicles the Mobile EVA App, which makes it possible to reserve charging points, taking into account the proximity to a station or the required time, as well as establishing trip distances and visualizing recharge history.
With the challenge of continuing to strengthen public electric mobility, this year in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, Transmilenio and BYD, we launched the first articulated 100% electric bus, which today is part of the city’s mass transportation system. This is the first 18-meter, high-floor, fully electric articulated in the world, transporting around 1,500 passengers a day, and travels about 320 kilometers on a single charge.
When the public transport system becomes entirely electric, it will be an incalculable benefit for the future of the country, we will be able to mitigate the environmental impacts generated from the production of CO2, we will improve the quality of life, and we will be able to mobilize ourselves in vehicles that do not produce noise and with less vibration, which means more comfortable and sustainable journeys.
WE RECEIVE THE FUTURE WITH THE BEST INFRASTRUCTURE
Our current infrastructure is set to support 10,000 charging points, which would provide the necessary energy for 500,000 electric vehicles to circulate around the country.
Today our companies and Colombians are aware of the negative impact that CO2 emissions have, and we recognize the importance of electric mobility to combat this damage. The promotion and implementation of this type of mobility is synonymous with public health, environmental preservation and efficiency.
