With the aim to distribute and commercialize electricity in the country, in the year 1997 Enel - Codensa was born as a result of the capitalization process of the Energy Company of Bogotá (EEB). Years later, we became part of the Enel Group, a multinational energy company with operations in more than 30 countries in four continents.
When we started operations, we delivered energy to approximately 1.5 million customers, and over these 20 years we have managed to strengthen and modernize our infrastructure, allowing us to grow exponentially. Currently, we are the energy trading company with the largest coverage in the country (25% share), we provide electricity to about 3.3 million customers in Bogotá and in the 108 municipalities of Cundinamarca, where we have presence.
Currently we have more than 4,500 kilometers of extended medium and low voltage networks, and more than 120 electrical substations that have allowed us to carry energy efficiently, continuously and reliably. Among these are the Bacatá substation, the largest in the country with 500kv of power; the most recently inaugurated Nueva Esperanza, which enters our system to increase our installed capacity by 11%; and the Victoria mobile electrical substation, an innovative solution that is incorporated into our operation as a backup equipment in the event of failure in a conventional substation or while performing maintenance and modernization works.
Additionally, we have made important investments to incorporate the highest technology into our distribution system, which has allowed us to improve the quality of the service we offer and expand the capacity to meet the electricity demand. Today we perform maintenance and other works through the use of drones and helicopters, and through the implementation of telecontrol technology, we have advanced towards the digitalization of our network, managing to reduce the number and duration of failures.
WE TRANSFORM CITIES THROUGH ENERGY
In recent years, technological advances have given us the opportunity to evolve, making it possible for us to improve processes that are part of our operation. This is how we increasingly incorporate innovative mechanisms to make cities more intelligent and sustainable spaces.
We implemented intelligent measurement in more than 40,000 homes in Bogotá and Cundinamarca, which allows us as a company to optimize the electric network operation, ensure the reliability of the service and distribute energy more effectively and easily; and it allows users to assume a more active role in their energy consumption.
On the other hand, we have contributed to the incorporation of electric mobility in the country through the implementation of multiple projects such as the implementation of the first electric taxi pilot plan, the creation of the largest corporate electric vehicle fleet in the country, promotion of the use of electric vehicles and bicycles within the company, and support in the putting into circulation of the first 100% electric articulated bus in the public transport system in the city of Bogotá.
In terms of the attention we provide to our users, we have put technology at the customer's service to offer them non-conventional alternatives that allow them to satisfy their communication and contact needs with the company. We have set up the service monitoring center that allows us to remotely manage the service channels in real time, in this way we can opportunely identify alerts related to operational capacity and service times.
At the same time, we designed a virtualization strategy focused on making various channels such as the website and social networks more accessible and user-friendly. We launched the Codensa Mobile App, through which customers can perform multiple procedures without having to go to our service points, and we also built an alternative such as the smart window, providing face-to-face service at the service center, and through virtual means and innovation to streamline the attention processes and waiting times, among other aspects.
20 years transforming lives through energy.
