Environmental care is an issue that concerns us all because the quality of human life depends largely on it. It is all about looking around and realizing how limited is the time we have to preserve the biodiversity of our planet.
Some figures that allow us to understand the global environmental situation show that annually more than 17 million hectares of forests in the world are destroyed, more than three billion tons of carbon dioxide are emitted into the atmosphere, two million people die in the world due to diseases and conditions related to pollution, there are over a thousand animal species and two thousand species of flora in serious danger of extinction. Globally, we generate four million tons of household trash daily, and within this figure, 35 million tons are electronic waste containing toxic substances. In addition, 6.4 million tons reach the sea and oceans.
In terms of biodiversity, Colombia is one of the countries with the highest index of flora and fauna variability on the planet, as well as having diverse ecological complexes and large water reserves. This increases our commitment to its preservation to ensure the sustainability of the territories while contributing to economic and social development.
Caring for our planet is a simple task, the first step is to be aware of the problem and take a more active role in preserving natural resources. We can begin by changing our habits and performing these small acts of conscience:
