We are Energy is an Enel Group initiative which seeks that the children of the workers of its companies around the world discover the world of energy, while contributing ideas and projects to solve some of the great challenges of the world. This activity is aligned with the commitment made by the Group companies to contribute to four of the 17 sustainable development objectives of the United Nations Global Compact: economic development, access to education, the fight against climate change and access to energy.
At Enel - Codensa and Enel - Emgesa we contribute to these objectives through the generation of clean energies, the conservation of our natural resources and the protection of our forests, as well as through the implementation of initiatives that promote gender equity within the organization, among others. It is for this reason that we wanted to invite the new generations to participate in the search for solutions on current issues such as education, equality, rights, health, access to energy, justice, biodiversity and all the major challenges, to continue to build a sustainable future together. The youngest should be the main actors of this change, which seeks to improve the quality of life of people and make a difference in the world.
And how do they do it? Through the We Are Energy contest, which this year called children and young people ages 8-17 to take one of the 17 UN Global Compact goals and develop an original project with local material. The purpose was for them to focus on an issue in their community, and to become active leaders of change.
The winners of this initiative worldwide had the opportunity to travel to the Italy campus, surrounded by nature and people of various nationalities. For two weeks, from July 9th to 23rd, the youth participated in an analytical workshop, scientific and creative laboratories, had fun with sports activities and team games, and met in Rome at Celebration Day, a large event with their families and representatives of the company.
COLOMBIAN TALENT
