Enel Distribución public Christmas displays light up the hearts and minds of 6 other cities across the country: Armenia, Barrancabermeja, Ibagué and Manizales. Ten townships around the Department of Cundinamarca also get public lighting during the holidays: Tavio, Tenjo, Chia, Cajicá, Ricaute, Soacha, Mosquera, Madrid, Facatativá and Girardot.
The environment and security - Other facets of our commitment
Staying true to the core vision of the Enel Group and its commitment to sustainability, since 2015 all the lights used for Christmas are 100% LED technology. With the implementation of this new technology, we are able to ensure an efficient use of energy and a 50% reduction in cost compared to traditional uses of energy during the holidays. In addition, the use of LED technology guarantees lower CO2 emissions, since their manufacture requires no polluting components, a fact which further contributes to the preservation of our environment.
In addition to using LED technology as part of sustainable lighting, we now strive to reuse most of the structures and make sure to use natural fiber strings in their assembly. These natural fiber strings are highly resistant to wind, rain and sun, and their use prevents any damage to the ecosystem when anchoring our decorative structures to trees, poles and walls.
Enel Group’s commitment is not only limited to protecting the environment. For Enel companies in Colombia, the safety of people is also a top priority. Over the past 10 years not been a single accident has been recorded in the setting up of Christmas lighting by either the team in charge of assembly and dismantling, or the thousands of people and families who visit and enjoy our Christmas decorations.

Creating just the right design, building magical, larger-than-life shapes and setting them up inside our parks and along our streets is all part of the ultimate goal of bringing Christmas joy to the hearts of people. The artisans of our country weave illusions, stoke dreams and tell stories through each of their annual creations and behind the creation of every structure Enel installs is a group of over 35 women who with dedication, patience and a eye for detail instill each and every one with the love of what they do, with the spirit of Christmas and the dream of seeing what they built with their own hands set up somewhere in the city.
