Closer and closer to energy efficiency

Today, we are faced with the demand of constantly renewing ourselves. The world of energy is shifting, , too and we must endeavor strive to be at the forefront by innovating and providing ever more efficient solutions to all our customers. Enel Group in Colombia hasve initiated several photovoltaic energy projects to serve as an alternative to standard sources of energy generation.

Clean energy - The underpinning of environmental impact reduction

One of the more well-known benefits of renewable energy systems is that they do not emit greenhouse gases during the process ofir energy generation process, and thus have a reduced impact on the environmental impact. Nowadays, there are several types of renewable energy; one of them is solar energy, which uses solar rays and photovoltaic cells to transform light energy into electrical energy.

Currently, Enel Group companies in Colombia have implemented three photovoltaic projects around the city of Bogota. They have installed approximately 300 solar panels (with an installed capacity of 72 KWp) capable of generating 77.5 MWh - enough energy to cover the monthly demand of approximately 753 households.

As part of our corporate commitment to makinge energy accessible to more people, our first project was placed in rural areas with traditionally difficult access to electrical energy - our solar panels benefit approximately 75 families in Cundinamarca. Our second project is located on the terrace of our corporate headquarters:, where we have 168 panels, which annually with which we can annually generatee the energy equivalent to of the consumption of 40 homes. During the first month of operation, the energy generated by the project supported 4% of the building's demand.

Finally, we have installed photovoltaic sources in some a number of companies around throughout the city of Bogota, such as Autogermana and Vermont. The first is a pilot test consisting of efficient energy delivery, which includes the installation, maintenance and operation of 80 solar panels with which it is intendedthat are to supply the energy needed to recharge more than 1,400 electric vehicles.

In total, these photovoltaic-cell initiatives have mitigated the emission of 16 tons of CO2 -– the equivalent to of planting over 1,133 trees to absorb the gas in the atmosphere.
