The Colombian electricity sector - committed to ethics and transparency
At the III Forum of Ethics for the Electricity Sector, a pact was signed to guarantee the Colombian Electricity Sector Commitment to Transparency and Ethics. This commitment is the result of a collective action promoted by twelve companies in the electricity sector.
This sector commitment aims to promote healthy competition, trust and sustainability of both companies and the sector itself. The twelve companies that spearheaded this collective action are: Enel - Codensa, Enel - Emgesa, the Energy Company of Bogotá, AES Chivor, Energy Company of Boyacá (EBSA), Energy Company of Cundinamarca (EEC), Public Companies of Medellín (EPM), Electrical Interconnection (ISA), ISAGEN, Termoemcali, XM, ISA Transelca and ISA Intercolombia.
The 5 framing principles of this pact are:
- Advance in the development and implementation of a Comprehensive Anti-Corruption Program referencing counter-bribery business principles established by Transparency International.
- Continue to encourage competition within the electricity sector operating according to Good Corporate Governance Practices to thwart restrictions on free competition.
- Draw up and disseminate a map of risks of corruption, restrictive practices of competition, money laundering, terrorism financing and pertinent management measures at each company: do the same for the sector as a whole.
- Provide useful information to promote transparency throughout the sector and the energy market.
- Disseminate Colombian Electricity Sector Commitment to Transparency and Ethics Pact at each company and their Boards of Directors, as well as with to the various interest groups within the electricity sector.
Enel Group companies around the country have secured an ethical foundation upon which to execute their projects. The Commitment to Transparency and Ethics Pact is the perfect opportunity to strengthen and ratify Enel’s undying commitment to issues like transparency, anti-corruption and compliance with policies and regulations.
