Fernando Gutiérrez is an electrical engineer from the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, where he graduated with honors in 1989. He completed a Master's degree in Business Administration seven years later at the same University.
His professional experience spanning over 27 years in the energy and business worlds is very diverse. On the one hand, he has been linked to social and business development, and the ability to create and rebuild companies; and on the other, to engineering and its relationship with network and substation performance, as well as traditional and unconventional energy generation such as hydraulics and fossil fuels, both with the same purpose: the effective and efficient use of resources.
Between 1990 and 1997, he worked at Corelca, where he held positions as Analyst Engineer and Head of Energy Division. Between 1998 and 2000, he held the position of Marketing Manager for the Termoflores hydroelectric plant. At the same time, he travelled to the United States and Europe to train in the reality of the energy market and began a period as member of boards of directors of various companies, as well as creating his own engineering company, time during which he established himself as project planner and administrator.
In 2001, he entered the generation business of the Enel Group Colombia through Enel - Emgesa. For more than 15 years he has led the Energy Management, a position in which he has not only achieved the business objectives and maintained constant growth, but also consolidating a team of highly committed and strong individuals who love what they do, this being one of his greatest fulfillments.
